Do Great Agents REALLY Do Well In Any Market?

Just in case you have been on the Planet Mars for the last three years…. I wanted to let you know that the Real Estate Market….SUCKS!

For some that is…. But not EVERYONE! There is saying that “Great Agents do well in ANY Market”! Is that really true? I don’t know if they do WELL but the difference between Great Agents and the Average Agent is simple…  When a market starts to change, One is paying attention and the other one isn’t!

I clearly remember, almost to the day back in August of 2006 when I put a home on the market and two weeks later I STILL didn’t have any offers. I thought hmmm… that’s weird! I double checked my pricing and it was priced correctly. I ran statistics for the area and BINGO noticed that other homes were sitting on the market as well. I immediately got a sick feeling in my stomach and told my husband… “ I think the winds have just changed”!

I started talking to other agents and funny thing was they kept saying… “No things are fine!” But when I would talk to people outside the real estate industry they concurred with me.  Now I am certainly not saying that I was the only real estate agent who saw it coming.

The majority of the agents who had been around for a long time and were consistent Top Producers were seeing and saying the same thing. Many of those agents were already jumping ship and starting to dive in head first to the REO Market, taking classes, getting certified, signing up with banks.

How did they know? They paid attention. They kept a close eye on the market, watched statistics, kept their finger on the pulse of the market.

So I believe that the winds are shifting again.
